1. $JD.com(JD.US)
Walmart disclosed in an announcement that it will sell all of its shares in JD.com, aiming to raise up to $3.74 billion. Prior to this sale, Walmart was the third largest shareholder of JD.com, holding a 9.4% stake. This transaction is likely due to Walmart's need to alleviate its own financial pressure, although JD.com's just released second quarter performance is not enough to inspire confidence. JD.com's Hong Kong stock fell nearly 10% today. To hedge the negative news, JD.com spent approximately $390 million today to repurchase shares.
2. $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US)
TSMC's billion-dollar factory in Germany has broken ground, and the factory will mainly produce chips for the automotive and industrial sectors. This is TSMC's first factory in Europe, with a total cost of up to 10 billion euros, with about half of the funding subsidized by the German government.
