China’s Xiaomi said it has started mass production of its Xring O1 advanced mobile chip, which it developed on its own, investing 13.5 billion yuan (US$1.87 billion) in the effort, Reuters reports, citing company founder Lei Jun. Xiaomi will invest at least 50 billion yuan ($6.93 billion) in chip design over 10-years from 2021.
