🚨 Trump is set to impose a new round of tariffs on dozens of countries this week.

The current 10% global tariff will expire on Friday.

Trump does not intend to let these tariffs lapse; instead, he is preparing to impose a new round of tariffs on up to 60 countries. According to the Financial Times, he will use forced labor investigations rather than the emergency powers that the Supreme Court already struck down earlier this year.

The investigation found that all 60 countries, including China, the EU, Japan, Canada, and Mexico, failed to adequately prohibit the importation of goods produced using forced labor elsewhere in their supply chains. Countries that at least partially ban such imports will face a 10% tariff.

All other countries will face a 12.5% tariff.

This approach avoids the legal issues that led to the overturning of Trump's original tariffs.

The administration is now constructing tariffs through a slower, narrower investigation rather than a comprehensive executive order, making it harder to challenge in court.

According to reports, senior officials have been urging Trump to hold off on action and honor agreements already reached with trading partners in 2025, especially as midterm elections approach and gas prices have rebounded to over $4 per gallon due to ongoing conflicts with Iran.
