Likes ReceivedBad news: Chinese clients are no longer eligible for IBKR's account opening referral rewards
I wonder if any of you have noticed, IBKR's interface for referring friends to open accounts has been quietly changed, adding a new clause: excluding Mainland China residents from eligibility for account opening referral rewards.
This used to be pretty good. For each friend referred, the referrer could get a $200 reward, and the referred person could get up to $1000 worth of IBKR stock. In comparison, for established US brokers like Charles Schwab, referrers get no reward at all, and the rewards for the referred are very few.
It's a real shame. I guess it's for compliance reasons, as there won't be any related Mainland China clients in the future.
