Beginner's Notes on US Stocks 50
Writing a summary before going to bed.
Today's on-market funds plummeted terribly. After chatting with a friend, I realized all the hard work this week was in vain—it's like working for the stock market. My friend showed me his portfolio and asked if I felt better... Not really. If I lose money while my friend makes money, at least I could ask for a red envelope or a free meal. But he lost even more than I did—heartbreaking. In the end, we encouraged each other to keep learning and improving...
No major moves in US stocks. After selling some GOOG at 226, it just kept rising—heartbreaking. I'll buy it back if it drops to around 220, treating it as a day trading move. Also reminded myself that if I can't predict the market, it's better to hold and not trade, at least saving on transaction fees.
CRCL has been falling since I bought some at 123... Another lesson to remind myself to stay true to the original intention. The money I used to buy US stocks was meant for long-term planning, compared to Hong Kong insurance. I thought it was more flexible and confident I could outperform the 6.5% non-guaranteed annualized return of Hong Kong insurance. But it hasn't been long, and I'm already getting impatient—shouldn't be like this!!!
Time to review the table I made earlier.
This account's overall return is 7%, and another account is at 5%. Hope to remember my investment goal: safety first, just outperform insurance returns. No options, no shorting.
Alright, time to sleep... Living a long life is the most important thing. After all, the Hong Kong critical illness insurance I bought will pay out if I don't claim by age 86.
