In response to the escalating "food delivery war," the State Administration for Market Regulation summoned platform companies such as Ele.me, Meituan, and JD.com on July 18. As a specific response to policy implementation, Shanghai's market regulatory authorities also summoned platforms like Ele.me. Currently, the relevant platforms have implemented three rectifications: completely discontinuing "Zero Yuan Purchase" promotional activities; significantly reducing the scope of free-order marketing; establishing a dedicated task force to strengthen activity monitoring, price control, and rider rights, while enhancing social oversight and transparency. Shanghai authorities will continue to enforce governance principles of standardization and development, strictly investigating illegal activities through strengthened regulatory measures. At the same time, platforms are required to strictly comply with regulations in conducting promotions, ensuring transaction authenticity and commercial rationality, and building a win-win ecosystem for consumers, merchants, riders, and platforms, comprehensively promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the catering service industry.
