1. On August 23, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development stated that it will study the establishment of three systems: housing inspection, housing pension, and housing insurance. Currently, pilot programs are being conducted in 22 cities including Shanghai. Over the weekend, related topics quickly trended, with some believing that the housing pension is aimed at "old, dilapidated, and small" properties, essentially being an "enhanced version of property tax." In response to such opinions, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development clarified that the housing pension is not a real estate tax and that the public does not need to contribute financially.
