The federal shutdown reached its 22nd day Wednesday, making it the second-longest in history, with no resolution in sight. Both of the longest shutdowns occurred under President Trump.

The 2018 shutdown lasted nearly five weeks over immigration funding, while the current lapse stems from Senate Democrats rejecting a Republican short-term funding bill lacking health care and other provisions.
