SURVEY: 1/3 OF GLP-1 USERS ARE LOWER-INCOME
A BTIG survey of 1,000 U.S. GLP-1 users found one-third earn under $45k, despite drug costs of $500–$1,000/month. Analysts cite cheaper compound versions (~$130) and Medicaid coverage as expanding access. The drugs are reshaping eating habits: 70% dine out less, with sharp cutbacks in soda (68%), pizza (67%), alcohol (63%), and snacks (58%). Users report cutting 300–800 calories/day, pressuring restaurants.BTIG estimates 5–10% of U.S. adults now use GLP-1s, with growth expected. Restaurants, especially fast food and pizza chains, could face a 120–230 bps sales hit, though healthier concepts like Chipotle and Sweetgreen may fare better. The copyright of this article belongs to the original author/organization.
