JPMORGAN: BUYBACKS SET TO HIT NEW RECORDS

JPMorgan expects U.S. share buybacks to rise by $600B on top of this year’s record $1.5T pace. Global buybacks have already matched last year’s $1.37T in just eight months, implying a potential $1.9T for 2025—a 38% increase.

Despite strong volumes, buybacks relative to market cap remain below historical peaks (2.6% vs. 5% in 2007). Along with low IPO activity, record buybacks are shrinking equity supply for the fourth year in a row, continuing to support markets.
