
ByteDance last week told chip design workers in Beijing, Shanghai, other China offices, that they now report to the company’s Singapore-unit, Picoheart, Reuters reports, to ensure access to advanced semiconductor technology. ByteDance is designing its own AI chips to reduce dependence on Nvidia. Since late 2023, US regulations have prevented China-based companies from using TSMC to produce advanced AI chips.
