U.S. ADULT DRINKING HITS RECORD LOW, GALLUP FINDS
Alcohol consumption among U.S. adults has fallen to its lowest level since Gallup began tracking in 1939, with 54% reporting they drink — down from 58% in 2024 and 62% in 2023, and below the previous record low of 55% in 1958.Gallup’s annual survey found fewer Americans drink regularly: only 24% had a drink in the past day, and 40% went more than a week without — the highest share since 2000.
