SK Hynix, the leading AI memory chip maker, is expected to post a ₩9 trillion won (US$6.6 billion) operating profit in the 2nd quarter on strong sales of HBM (high bandwidth memory) chips, the key AI memory chip, media report, citing analysts, and adding its quarterly operating profit could top ₩10 trillion in the 2nd half 2025 as next generation HBM3E 12Hi (12-layer) chips make up a bigger portion of sales.
