China’s AI firms are bypassing US controls by carrying suitcases packed with hard drives to nations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East where they can freely use Nvidia chips to train their AI models, the WSJ reports. In March, 4 China engineers flew to Malaysia, each carrying a suitcase with 15 hard drives inside, with 80TB of data for training their AI model.
