
The US will press allies like Japan, Netherlands, South Korea to comply more with US export controls on China for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, Nikkei Asia reports. China bought a record amount of chip equipment last year to expand domestic production and stockpile key tools, with Japan and the Netherlands winning most orders. The US plans to up its export control budget and station more officers overseas.
