MediaTek, the smartphone and custom chip (ASIC) giant, sees the market for custom chips for AI/cloud data centers 2026 to 2028 exceeding US$40 billion, a crucial growth engine, Chairman MK Tsai said, media report, adding MediaTek has focused chip design on consumer devices in the past, but its design expertise and IP (SerDes, CPO, etc.) align well with data centers now.
