Bold #HBM move by Samsung; one with considerable risk.

$SEC has started mass production of 12-layer HBM3e BEFORE finalizing qualification with $NVIDIA(NVDA.US).

If there is another delay in qualification, Samsung could find itself sitting on massive inventory stock piles.

$SEC hopes to be qualified in June/July. But waiting until then for final qualification would not work; Normally, HBM mass production takes up to 5 to 6 months for DRAM manufacturing and packaging, and by that time the market will have already moves to #HBM4.

My Take:

· $SEC must have very high confidence in their ability to finalize qualification in June/July. The inventory risk is just too high.

· $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) is certainly motivated to move towards a dual supplier situation, and probably communicated confidence in their upcoming qualification to Samsung as well.

· #SKHynix monopoly on AI HBM is coming to an end this year.

· The implications here extend beyond $SEC and #SKHynix themselves down the supply chain to their respective suppliers.
