Amazon announced an investment of over 10 billion euros to upgrade its European warehousing network, with the next-generation Proteus all-scenario AI warehousing robots set to be deployed by 2027. This move aims to expand fulfillment centers and create an additional 25,000 jobs. At the same time, the company plans to expand its same-day delivery business to more cities and launch a new version of the AI voice assistant Alexa+ along with automated devices such as STARK and Vulcan, accelerating the expansion of its logistics and delivery network in Europe

According to Zhitong Finance APP, e-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN.US) officially showcased its next-generation Proteus warehouse robot at the "Delivering the Future" launch event held in Dartford, UK. This new product is planned to be deployed in warehouse centers across Europe in the first half of 2027.

The existing version of the Proteus robot can only operate in the warehouse dock area, while the upgraded new model can autonomously navigate throughout the entire warehouse. Scott Dresser, Vice President of Amazon Robotics, explained: "Staff only need to issue task commands, and the robot can autonomously plan task priorities, travel routes, and working times."

Industry analysis suggests that this signifies a transformation in the control logic of the new generation of Proteus, shifting from traditional complex programmed instructions to a more autonomous task-level scheduling. With the deep empowerment of AI technology, industrial robots are breaking free from the limitations of fixed positions and are fully penetrating the entire operational link of warehousing, evolving from standardized tools to intelligent collaborative partners for warehouse personnel.

At the same time, Amazon has finalized an investment plan exceeding €10 billion to expand and upgrade its European fulfillment warehouse network based on advanced robotic technology. Once the project is implemented, it will create an additional 25,000 jobs in Europe. In addition, the company's next-generation AI assistant Alexa+, is set to launch in 10 more countries by 2027.

This American e-commerce giant will also expand its STARK container handling robot system, which will be deployed at 15 warehouse sites in Europe before 2027; it also introduced the Vulcan industrial robot equipped with tactile sensing technology.

In terms of the delivery network, Amazon's instant delivery service Amazon Now will expand to the cities of Manchester and Birmingham in the UK. The company is accelerating the rollout of its same-day delivery network across Europe, with a goal to establish over 25 city sites, including Coventry and Nuremberg, within the year
