Apple's latest iPhone 17 is driving the company's smartphone sales to the strongest growth since the pandemic, thanks to the largest redesign of the iPhone in recent years, which has sparked a strong market response.
According to the Dolphin Research APP, supply chain surveys and carrier data show that the newly designed iPhone 17 from Apple (AAPL.US) has exceeded demand expectations since its launch in September, propelling its smartphone business to achieve the fastest growth since the outbreak of COVID-19.
According to Visible Alpha, analysts expect Apple's smartphone revenue to recover by 4% in the current fiscal year, reaching $209.3 billion. By fiscal year 2026, the growth rate is expected to approach 5%, with iPhone revenue projected to reach $218.9 billion.
In the fiscal year ending September 2023, Apple's smartphone revenue declined by 2%, compared to flat growth last year, as consumers had already purchased a large number of electronic products during the pandemic.
On October 30, Apple will announce its fourth-quarter results for the period ending September, which will include the initial weeks following the launch of the iPhone 17.
Wall Street analysts generally expect iPhone annual shipments to remain at around 235 million units until around 2026, and then potentially exceed 240 million units in 2027, driven by rumors of foldable models.
With the support of trade-in policies and subsidies for affordable iPhone models in the Chinese market, the iPhone continues to contribute more than half of Apple's $390 billion annual revenue.
