Samsung HBM3E chip certified by NVIDIA, entering the core supply chain of AI chips

NVIDIA has basically confirmed that its latest AI acceleration chip, GB300, will adopt Samsung's fifth-generation high-bandwidth HBM3E technology, meaning that Samsung, after several setbacks, can finally enter NVIDIA's supply chain. Sources revealed that NVIDIA CEO recently sent a formal letter to Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-Yong, confirming that the GB300 chip will feature Samsung's 12-layer stacked HBM3E technology, and both parties are currently finalizing negotiations on supply quantity, pricing, and timeline. Micron Technology is already a key supplier of NVIDIA's HBM solutions (including HBM3E). Its stock price fell 3% in afternoon trading on Thursday. SK Hynix is another important memory chip supplier for NVIDIA. It is reported that Samsung has been working for over a year to obtain NVIDIA certification for its HBM3E chips. Currently, the AI hardware industry is gradually shifting to sixth-generation HBM4 chips, so the quantity of HBM3E chips supplied by Samsung will not be large, but it is also of milestone significance and is expected to accelerate the mass production certification process of HBM4
