Apple responds to doubts: The new smartwatch utilizes AI to achieve high blood pressure detection functionality

Apple's new hypertension detection feature in the Apple Watch Series 11 uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology, replacing traditional monitoring methods. Sumbul Ahmad Desai, head of Apple's health business, stated that the feature is based on AI screening of data from 100,000 participants, validating the consistency of sensor data with traditional blood pressure measurements and creating the corresponding algorithm. Apple has received FDA approval, despite facing criticism over AI competition. The new product is now on the market, and Apple's stock price rose 1.27% in pre-market trading
According to reports, Apple (AAPL.US) has added a new hypertension detection feature in the Apple Watch Series 11 that uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology instead of traditional blood pressure monitoring techniques.
Sumbul Ahmad Desai, head of Apple's health business, stated that the tech giant utilized AI models and applied them to existing sensor data. Subsequently, researchers screened data from 100,000 participants in a heart study launched in 2019 using AI technology. The goal was to verify whether the signal data collected by the heart-related sensors on the Apple Watch was consistent with traditional blood pressure measurement results.
Based on this, the company created an algorithm and validated it against the results of another independent study involving 2,000 participants. Apple recently received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this new feature.
As this news broke, Apple faced criticism from many experts and observers for lagging in the AI race.
All new products announced by Apple earlier at the fall launch event, including the Apple Watch Series 11 and the new iPhone Air, are now available for purchase.
As of the time of writing, Apple shares are up 1.27% in pre-market trading
