This year, "cloud" is undoubtedly the business that Tencent stands under the spotlight, not only because the explosion of AI applications has driven strong growth in the cloud business performance, but also because Tencent Cloud has simultaneously become the base camp for Tencent's heavyweight AI products for both B-end and C-end.
Regarding Tencent's consideration to adjust many AI products and applications such as Yuanbao, QQ Browser, and ima to Tencent Cloud at the beginning of the year, Li Qiang, Vice President of Tencent Group and President of Enterprise Business, stated in a recent media exchange at the 2025 Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Conference that it is more about hoping that the C-end and B-end can connect and support each other better.
He believes that the greatest benefit of the popularization of C-end AI applications is that it can influence user mindset, because each C-end user is also in a specific position within the enterprise, and more people understanding Tencent's C-end AI capabilities will also influence B-end decision-making.
The reason this synergistic effect can be achieved is that all of Tencent's products are integrating AI large model capabilities, whether for C-end or B-end.
Li Qiang pointed out that one can imagine that in the future, the connection and consultation between WeChat for enterprises and C-end customers will likely be replaced by Agents or digital humans. As individual consumers are served using Agents in WeChat for enterprises, enterprises would also hope to use such products to serve their customers, thus creating a seamless connection in C2B.
It is reported that Tencent has now fully integrated AI capabilities into more than 900 products, including WeChat, QQ, and Tencent Meeting, and has deeply embedded AI into gaming, advertising, and social ecosystems, driving significant growth in three core businesses: value-added services, marketing services, and financial technology and enterprise services.
Tencent Cloud's technical products are actively integrating large model technology capabilities, fully promoting the productization of "AI for Cloud." At the same time, Tencent Cloud's multi-modal application solutions based on "Tencent Hunyuan + advanced open-source models" have already been implemented in more than 30 industries, including government affairs, finance, education, consumer electronics, healthcare, retail, cultural tourism, transportation, and media.
Li Qiang stated that Tencent Cloud is making significant investments in AI infrastructure, not only in computing power deployment but also in self-developed products such as the Xingxinghai server and high-performance networks, which can ensure lower costs and higher efficiency for users during use. At the same time, it is also actively enabling all products to significantly enhance application efficiency through AI, whether they are SaaS or PaaS.
Tencent, which continues to arm itself with AI, is ushering in a good period of explosive growth in AI applications.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the average daily consumption of tokens in China at the beginning of 2024 was 100 billion. By the end of June this year, the average daily token consumption has exceeded 30 trillion, growing more than 300 times in a year and a half.
In addition, IDC's research on over 4,000 business leaders and AI decision-makers worldwide shows that 92% of enterprises are actively leveraging artificial intelligence technology to enhance productivity, customer engagement, revenue growth, cost management, and product innovation across multiple key areas Against this backdrop, AI has also accelerated the revenue growth rate of Tencent Cloud in the second quarter of this year compared to recent quarters, mainly due to the increased demand from enterprise customers for AI-related services, including GPU leasing and API token usage, as well as the growth of technical service fees for merchants.
Li Qiang stated that AI has indeed driven the performance of almost all cloud computing vendors worldwide, becoming one of the most important growth engines.
At the 2025 Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Conference, Li Qiang pointed out that looking globally, it is clear that we are at a turning point where AI technology is reconstructing industries. AI is changing the growth paradigm of enterprises and optimizing organizational operating mechanisms, and an AI-driven efficiency revolution is accelerating.
At the same time, he also noted that in the face of global competition, enterprises not only need to grow but also need to grow efficiently. AI is the biggest variable and core engine for achieving efficiency transformation. "AI is transitioning from an auxiliary tool to a basic infrastructure like water and electricity. With the introduction of national AI+ policies, artificial intelligence is reshaping enterprises across all scenarios and accelerating the industry's upgrade towards efficiency moments."
However, even so, Tencent Cloud is not aggressive in competing in the AI cloud market.
Li Qiang told Wall Street News that Tencent Cloud does not participate in the low-price competition for GPU computing power, as this does not bring real value to customers in the long run.
In Li Qiang's view, many cloud vendors may focus more on short-term revenue, but Tencent Cloud believes that making short-term profits may lose the advantage in the long run, as the competition for large models is a marathon.
Although AI applications are experiencing an explosion, they are only just crossing the threshold of industrialization.
Li Qiang pointed out that the dividends brought by large AI models may last for a while, as their popularity is not yet that high, but in application scenarios, B2C enterprises may move faster, such as in retail, education, healthcare, and professional services. B2B enterprises may be slightly slower, as the core key business scenarios for B2B may have a lower tolerance for hallucinations, such as in traditional electricity, energy, and manufacturing.
In this long marathon competition, Tencent Cloud has successfully positioned itself, and the next challenge will be to test endurance and continuous innovation
