Following Trump's visit to the UK, Google plans to invest £5 billion to support AI development in the UK

Google announced on Tuesday that it will invest £5 billion (approximately $6.8 billion) in the UK over the next two years to help the country build an artificial intelligence (AI) economy. This announcement comes as U.S. President Trump visits this long-time American ally this week. During his visit, Trump is expected to announce economic cooperation projects totaling over $10 billion. According to a statement released by Google, this investment will cover its AI subsidiary DeepMind (which has a business unit in London) and will also be used for AI research projects related to science and healthcare. Part of the investment will focus on building a new data center in Waltham Cross to meet the growing demand for Google services such as search and maps. Google stated that this investment is expected to create 8,250 jobs in the UK each year. It is reported that during Trump's visit to the UK, American companies OpenAI and NVIDIA also plan to commit to investing billions of dollars in the UK data center sector. Among the multiple agreements Trump plans to sign during this trip is a U.S.-UK cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating the process for companies in both countries to build nuclear power plants
