Google services are temporarily disrupted in Turkey and parts of Europe
Google services were temporarily disrupted in Turkey and parts of Europe (such as Greece and Germany) on Thursday, including services like YouTube. The disruption began at 10 AM local time and most services were restored to normal before 09:00 GMT. The Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure in Turkey stated that the cybersecurity regulatory agency has requested Google to submit a technical report. According to reports, some Google (GOOGL.US) services, including YouTube, temporarily experienced outages in Turkey and parts of Europe, including Greece and Germany, on Thursday.
The "Freedom of Expression Association," which oversees internet censorship in Turkey, stated that the service interruption for Google in Turkey began around 10 AM local time (07:00 GMT).
Tracking website Downdetector indicated that most services had returned to normal before 09:00 GMT, with reports of service interruptions gradually decreasing starting from 07:51 GMT.
Omer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure in Turkey, stated on X that the Turkish cybersecurity regulatory agency has requested Google to submit a technical report.
A map released by Sayan showed that Turkey, most of Southeast Europe, as well as parts of Ukraine, Russia, and Western Europe were affected.
Intermittent service interruptions were also reported in Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Romania, with users indicating they were unable to access websites, YouTube, and some mobile contacts related to Gmail.
In Germany, the U.S. Ookla-owned outage tracking website allestoerungen.de reported an increase in Google’s network service interruptions starting around 9 AM (07:00 GMT).
As of the time of publication on Thursday before the U.S. stock market opened, Google's stock price had fallen by 0.7%
