Report: Trump seeks opinions from Capitol Hill on the intention to dismiss Powell

CBS reported, citing multiple informed sources, that U.S. President Trump asked Republican lawmakers whether he should dismiss Federal Reserve Chairman Powell.

Congressional members indicated that Trump hinted he would remove Powell from his position.

The yield on the U.S. two-year Treasury note briefly plunged from 3.92% to 3.8980%, hitting a new daily low, with an overall decline of more than 4 basis points during the day.

The spread between the 2-year and 10-year U.S. Treasury yields surged from around +52 basis points to +55.501 basis points, turning upward overall and reaching a new daily high.

The U.S. dollar index briefly fell from around 98.80 to near 98.60, currently remaining roughly flat for the day
