Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple's "affordable" MacBook is expected to start mass production by the end of the year

Tianfeng International Securities analyst Guo Minghao predicts that Apple will begin mass production of an affordable version of the MacBook in the fourth quarter of 2025 to early 2026, equipped with a display of approximately 13 inches and an A18 Pro processor, with expected shipments of 5 to 7 million units. Apple is also developing smart glasses, with expected shipments reaching 3 to 5 million units by 2027. Chinese supplier Changying Precision is expected to be a core beneficiary, with revenue and profit expected to grow by 15% to 20% and 30% to 40%, respectively, in 2026
According to Tianfeng International Securities analyst Guo Mingqi's prediction, Apple's (AAPL.US) upcoming budget version of the MacBook is expected to enter mass production from late Q4 2025 to early Q1 2026.
This new product will feature an approximately 13-inch display and will be equipped with the A18 Pro processor. Guo Mingqi revealed on his social media platform X that the device will be available in four color options: silver, blue, pink, and yellow.
Although the specific price has not yet been announced, for reference, the current starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Air is $899, the 15-inch version starts at $1,099, and the MacBook Pro series starts at $1,599.
The tech giant plans to drive a rebound in total MacBook shipments through this new product, aiming to restore shipments to the peak level of approximately 25 million units during the pandemic by 2026, while the expected shipments for 2025 are only 20 million units. It is estimated that this budget MacBook will contribute 5 to 7 million units in shipments in 2026.
Guo Mingqi also revealed that Apple's smart glasses currently under development will not have display functionality, with core features focusing on audio playback, photography, video recording, and AI environmental perception. The company is actively testing 3D printing technology for manufacturing, with expected shipments of this product reaching 3 to 5 million units or even higher by 2027.
Analysts specifically pointed out that Chinese supplier Changying Precision (300115.SZ) will be a core beneficiary of these two new products. The company is not only responsible for the reference design (NPI) of the budget MacBook's casing but will also provide frame components for the 2027 Apple smart glasses. Currently, Changying Precision supplies casings for the MacBook Pro and is expected to receive new orders for MacBook Air casings in 2026, which will significantly boost its shipment volume.
Driven by the new products, Changying Precision's revenue and profit in 2026 are expected to achieve year-on-year growth of 15% to 20% and 30% to 40%, respectively
