Meta expands cooperation with Invenergy! Adds 791 megawatts of renewable energy supply for data centers

Renewable energy developer Invenergy and Meta Platforms announced on Thursday that the two companies have signed four agreements to supply 791 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind energy for the latter's data centers. Both parties did not disclose the financial details of the agreements. Invenergy stated that the solar and wind projects will be located in Ohio, Arkansas, and Texas, with the generated power being delivered to the local grid, while Meta will receive clean energy certificates associated with the new generation capacity. This is the latest round of energy procurement agreements by Meta in the context of its ongoing push to use clean energy to meet the surge in power demand from artificial intelligence technologies in data centers. Last year, Meta signed four agreements with Invenergy to procure 760 MW of solar power. Invenergy indicated that the new agreements on Thursday expand the total scale of cooperation between the two parties to 1,800 MW.
