Xiaomi AI glasses debut tomorrow: Xiao Ai responds instantly + first-person perspective shooting, a must-have tool for influencers?

This "next-generation personal smart device" features a D-shaped frame design and integrates two core functions: first, it has a built-in Xiao Ai Tong Xue AI object recognition Q&A, allowing users to directly inquire about what they see and receive real-time responses; second, it supports first-person perspective video recording, which can be activated by voice command "Xiao Ai Tong Xue, start recording," making it suitable for scenarios such as fitness, cycling, and cooking
Xiaomi officially announced its first AI glasses product, which will be unveiled at tomorrow's launch event. This product, defined by Xiaomi as a "next-generation personal smart device," integrates core functions such as AI object recognition and video recording.
On June 25, Xiaomi announced via Weibo that it will release the "next-generation personal smart device" Xiaomi AI glasses at 7 PM on June 26.
From the official announcement poster, it can be seen that the Xiaomi AI glasses adopt a common D-shaped rectangular design, with thinner temples, making them look more like regular glasses. When the exposure is increased, the camera can be seen located on the left side of the glasses.
Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun posted two Weibo videos showcasing the AI object recognition and first-person video recording capabilities of the Xiaomi AI glasses. Lei Jun stated:
"Xiaomi AI glasses are 'personal smart devices for the next era,' serving as a portable AI entry point. Once you wear the glasses, you can directly ask Xiao Ai about anything you see, and Xiao Ai will respond in real-time, providing you with answers."
Previously, 36kr cited informed sources reporting that the Xiaomi AI glasses are fully positioned against Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, equipped with AI functions, audio headphone modules, and camera modules. Lei Jun expects the shipment volume of this product to exceed 300,000 units.
Xiaomi AI Glasses: Ask directly about what you see, supports first-person perspective shooting
Although specific technical parameters have not been disclosed, as Lei Jun publicly demonstrated two core functions in videos on Weibo:
1. Built-in Xiao Ai, combined with the built-in lens, allows you to ask directly about what you see.
For example, when facing a cat or a flower pot, you can directly call Xiao Ai to ask what it is, and Xiao Ai will respond in real-time, providing quick answers, which is very convenient.
AI object recognition Q&A
2. In terms of video recording, Lei Jun mentioned that the Xiaomi AI glasses support first-person perspective shooting, which can be used while exercising, cycling, climbing, cooking, or taking care of children.
From the video, we can see that there is no need to touch the screen or the frame; just say "Xiao Ai, start recording," and you can wake it up with your voice to start recording.
First-person video recording
This is very useful in scenarios like cycling, allowing you to record without using your hands. Additionally, cooking, conducting experiments, or crafting can also be recorded from a first-person perspective, making it great for sharing your skills with friends
From the demonstration video, Xiaomi AI glasses can record videos from a first-person perspective in almost all scenarios of daily life.
The official announcement of Xiaomi AI glasses has sparked heated discussions among netizens. Some comments include:
“If the camera is high-definition enough, it should be a powerful tool for all contemporary first-person video creators.”
“This feature integrated into the glasses is great; no need to activate the Xiao Ai on the phone, can I directly open the YY7 front trunk?”
“A must-have for self-media creators!”
“The entry point for the Internet of Everything”
Are Xiaomi AI Glasses Competing with Meta Ray-Ban?
As early as the end of last year, according to 36Kr, Xiaomi planned to launch a new generation of AI glasses and has collaborated with Goertek, with the product expected to be released in the second quarter of 2025.
Regarding the shipment volume of this product, Lei Jun's expectation is “over 300,000 units.”
At that time, informed sources indicated that Xiaomi AI glasses would fully compete with Meta Ray-Ban, equipped with AI features, audio headset modules, and camera modules, and would be released under Xiaomi's own brand.
According to an analysis by Huajin Securities, such products are highly homogeneous in hardware configuration and supply chain, all using Qualcomm AR1 chips, Sony 681 image sensors, equipped with five high-performance microphones, a battery capacity of around 160 mAh, and weighing about 50 grams. Differentiated competition mainly focuses on three aspects:
First, model and ecological capabilities, with domestic large models like Doubao, Hunyuan, and Tongyi Qianwen providing AI capabilities for the product;
Second, social attributes, as products like Ray-Ban Meta support first-person live streaming and photo sharing, connecting to Meta's social platforms;
Third, fashion accessory attributes, creating limited editions through collaborations with fashion brands, such as the Ray-Ban Meta x Coperni collaboration priced at $549, validating the feasibility of the high-end market According to previous reports on the hardware configuration of Xiaomi's AI glasses, Xiaomi may adopt a dual-chip combination of Qualcomm AR1 and Hengxuan 2700, which is significantly different from the single SoC chips used by current manufacturers such as Meta, Thunder, and Flash.
According to the Wellsenn XR report, the hardware cost of Xiaomi's AI glasses is approximately $177.5, which is higher than Meta RayBan's $149, equivalent to about RMB 1,290. Considering Xiaomi's assurance that the comprehensive net profit margin for hardware does not exceed 5%, a pricing of RMB 1,499 is not impossible
