At 7 PM tonight, Xiaomi will hold a strategic new product launch conference, with the Xuanjie O1 chip drawing significant attention.
This time, there are many heavyweight new products: the mobile SoC chip Xiaomi Xuanjie O1, Xiaomi 15S Pro, and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra; while the YU7 is expected to officially launch in July, specific pricing and pre-order information will not be disclosed at this event.
On the 21st, Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing revealed on Weibo that there is more than just the O1 model of the Xuanjie chip.
It is noteworthy that on the 22nd, Lei Jun posted on Weibo revealing that the development process of the Xuanjie O1 chip has been "very difficult." Over more than four years, as of the end of April this year, the cumulative R&D investment in Xuanjie has exceeded 13.5 billion RMB. Currently, the R&D team has surpassed 2,500 people, and this year, the R&D investment is expected to exceed 6 billion RMB.
Lei Jun stated in a previous blog post that from the beginning of the Xuanjie project, high goals were set: “the latest process technology, flagship-level transistor scale, first-tier performance and energy efficiency.”
At the same time, Xiaomi has established a long-term continuous investment plan:
“At least invest for ten years, at least invest 50 billion, steadily and cautiously, step by step. ”
He stated that this scale, in the current domestic semiconductor design field, ranks among the top three in the industry in terms of both R&D investment and team size. In response to external doubts about the follow-up of the Surge SoC, Lei Jun emphasized:
“That is not our ‘black history,’ that is our journey.”
Xiaomi executives respond to doubts about the Xuanjie O1 chip: Xiaomi is serious about making chips; if there were any fraud, could we survive to this day?
It is noteworthy that on the 22nd, Pan Jiutang, a partner in Xiaomi's industrial investment department, responded on Weibo to online doubts about the Xiaomi Xuanjie O1 chip, stating, “Some conspiracy theories/anti-intellectual remarks from self-media/water armies can drive people crazy.”
He stated:
“For more than four years, the actions of thousands of people in Xuanjie have been transparent to the upstream and downstream of the industry chain/partners and competitors (all trillion-level giants) and the government; if there were any fraud or wrongdoing, could we survive to this day? Xiaomi has no way to stop these giants from spreading nonsense on social media. Xiaomi is serious about making chips and sincerely requests support.
Previously, there were doubts on social platforms claiming that the Xuanjie O1 is a "Qualcomm shell" and "half-baked self-research."
