Announcement by the Tariff Commission of the State Council on the Imposition of Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating from the United States

On April 2, 2025, the United States announced the imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" on goods imported from China, to which China expressed strong opposition, believing that this action violates international trade rules. According to the approval of the State Council, starting from April 10, 2025, at 12:01 PM, an additional 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States, while the current bonded and tax exemption policies remain unchanged. Goods that have already been shipped will not be affected by this additional tariff within a specified time frame
On April 2, 2025, the U.S. government announced the imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" on goods imported from China. The U.S. approach does not comply with international trade rules, severely undermines China's legitimate rights and interests, and is a typical example of unilateral bullying. According to the "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China," "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China," and other laws and regulations, as well as the basic principles of international law, and with the approval of the State Council, starting from April 10, 2025, at 12:01 PM, tariffs will be imposed on imported goods originating from the United States. The relevant matters are as follows:
- A 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the United States, based on the current applicable tariff rates.
- The current bonded and tax exemption policies remain unchanged, and the tariffs imposed this time will not be exempted.
- Goods that have been shipped from the place of origin before April 10, 2025, at 12:01 PM, and imported between April 10, 2025, at 12:01 PM and May 13, 2025, at 12:00 AM, will not be subject to the tariffs specified in this announcement.
