Apple expands AI features to more languages and regions, including Chinese.
On March 31, Eastern Time, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence is officially open to more users worldwide, providing a range of AI-assisted capabilities covering text creation, image generation, and smart notifications across multiple scenarios.
This update is launched simultaneously with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. Starting Monday, Apple Intelligence officially supports multiple languages, including Simplified Chinese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, and Korean, and offers localized English versions for Singapore and India.
Users in almost all major markets can now access Apple Intelligence features, no longer limited to early users in the US and UK. For the first time, iPhone and iPad users in the European Union can use Apple’s intelligent features.
Notably, Apple Intelligence also debuts on Apple’s new generation headset, Vision Pro, equipped with a range of innovative AI tools.
Among them, the Writing Tools can proofread, rewrite, or summarize text, and also support drafting content directly through ChatGPT; Image Playground offers a "Sketch" style to help users generate more academic and detailed image content; Genmoji allows users to automatically generate personalized emoji packs based on input content.
This update of Apple Intelligence also brings several new features, including a priority notification function that can intelligently identify and highlight important and time-sensitive messages; the AI video generation tool allows users to generate memory videos on Mac by simply entering a text description.
Apple emphasizes that one of the key features of Apple Intelligence is its commitment to a "privacy-first" technology path in the AI era. The system processes data locally on the device by default; when tasks exceed local processing capabilities, it will call Apple’s self-developed servers through "private cloud computing," ensuring that user data is encrypted throughout the process and will not be used for model training or third-party storage.
On Monday, Apple shares rose over 1.5% after initially falling nearly 0.8%, leading the tech "Big Seven."
