UK Chancellor: Trump's tariff war threatens growth, hopes to reach a trade agreement
UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves stated that even if US President Trump excludes the UK from his tariff measures against Canada and Mexico, the global trade war will harm UK growth and push up inflation. Reeves pledged at the annual meeting of the manufacturing lobbying group MakeUK to "advocate for free and open trade to all international counterparts" and warned that "even without additional tariffs on the UK, we will be affected by the global trade slowdown, GDP growth slowdown, and rising inflation."
