Amazon's cloud division has developed its first quantum computing chip, named Ocelot

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has developed its first quantum computing chip, Ocelot, at the California Institute of Technology. The chip is made up of two silicon wafers. Oskar Painter, head of quantum hardware at AWS, stated that the idea of developing a quantum computer has been around for five years and is now being realized. Recently, Microsoft and Google also announced their respective quantum hardware
A team at the California Institute of Technology (CIT) has overlapped two small silicon chips together. Literally, Ocelot refers to oscillators, which can emit periodic electrical signals. Oskar Painter, head of AWS quantum hardware, stated, "Five years ago, I could tell you, 'I believe we can develop a quantum computer and also create practical hardware.' Today, I can confidently say we are developing a quantum computer." Recently, Microsoft and Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, also announced their own quantum hardware.
