As one of the three giants in GPS, GE Healthcare (GEHC.O) is undergoing significant personnel changes.
On February 27, GE Healthcare China announced that President and CEO Zhang Yihao will retire on July 1 of this year.
As his successor, Song Weiqun will join GE Healthcare China on April 1 and officially take over the position on July 1.
"GE Healthcare China President and CEO Zhang Yihao will retire from the company on July 1, 2025. His planned retirement arrangement allows the company ample time to carefully search for and complete the selection of a successor. Song Weiqun, who has over 20 years of experience at Johnson & Johnson, will join GE Healthcare as the successor and officially take over the position on July 1," an insider from GE Healthcare China told Xinfeng (ID: TradeWind01).
Since joining in 2019, Zhang Yihao has been promoting localized production at GE Healthcare China, expanding production scales in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuxi, and Tianjin, and establishing two new production bases in Chengdu and Shenzhen.
The incoming Song Weiqun also has extensive experience in the Chinese market.
Before joining GE Healthcare, Song Weiqun had worked at Johnson & Johnson for over 20 years, during which he served as Global Senior Vice President and Chairman of Johnson & Johnson China, promoting the coordinated development of Johnson & Johnson's two major business areas, medical technology and innovative pharmaceuticals, in China.
Moreover, Song Weiqun is the first locally grown Chairman of Johnson & Johnson China in the company's 100-year history, making him quite familiar with the Chinese market.
With this leadership change, expectations are high for what new atmosphere Song Weiqun will bring to GE Healthcare China.
An insider from GE Healthcare China told Xinfeng (ID: TradeWind01) that in the coming months, Zhang Yihao and Song Weiqun will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition and handover
