Is the time set? Tesla executives: The autonomous driving service Cybercab will operate in Austin, Texas in June

Tesla's chief designer revealed that the company will launch the Cybercab service in Austin, Texas this summer, marking Tesla's official entry into the autonomous taxi market
Elon Musk has promised to launch autonomous driving for ten years, and is it finally going to become a reality this year? Tesla executives revealed plans to launch the Cybercab service in June.
On Wednesday, Tesla's Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen recently disclosed on Jay Leno's show that the company will launch the Cybercab service in Austin, Texas this summer.
This marks Tesla's official entry into the autonomous taxi market, bringing new challenges to competitors like Waymo.
Von Holzhausen stated:
We are testing in Texas and plan to launch the service in June.
This technology feels like the future, but it is happening right now, and every Tesla car has this capability.
However, Tesla executives did not disclose more specific details about the Cybercab service, including the scale of operations in Austin and whether there are plans to expand to other cities in the coming months.
Currently, Tesla is facing challenges with weakening growth momentum, as the company recently reported its first annual decline in delivery volume, and its fourth-quarter performance did not meet Wall Street expectations, leading to a downward revision of its 2025 outlook.
Against this backdrop, launching the Robotaxi service may be one of Tesla's strategies to maintain its trillion-dollar market value. By showcasing its strengths in artificial intelligence and autonomous driving, Tesla hopes to attract investor attention and reignite market enthusiasm.
With the imminent launch of Tesla's Cybercab service, competition in the autonomous taxi market will intensify further. Companies like Waymo, which are already operating Robotaxi services, will face direct challenges from Tesla
